Abstract
Background:Itiswellknownthatthermalsofteningofpolyvinylchloridetrachealtubesducesnasaldamageduringnasotrachealintubation.Wehypothesizedthatthermalsofteningofdouble-lumenendobronchialtubes(DLTs)maybeeffective
forducingairwayinjury.Thisrandomizeddouble-blindstudywasperformedtoinvestigatewhetherthermalsofteningofDLTsdecasedpostoperativesothroat,hoarsenessorvocalcordinjuries.
Methods:Patients(n=)undergoingonelunganaesthesiawerandomizedintotwogroups(n=70each)dependingonwhethertheDLTwassoftenedbywarmingornotbefotrachealintubation.TheDLTsweplacedinwarmsaline[40(1)°C]in
